‘Lucky Country’ Named for Australia, where else!
Hardiness In your landscape ‘Lucky Country’ will thrive in zone 8A and above. Plant it just about anywhere, in anything, anytime, and it will quickly reward you.
Getting Started This Eucalyptus is one of the easiest, most consistent and fastest growing of all the Southern Eucs. Likes to "lean" first then head to the sky. Stake it early for a more erect tree.
Size Easy to control and responds well to pruning. All grown up 'Lucky Country' could reach 50’.
Leaf New growth appears in all four seasons. Bright green fragrant leaves, that resemble Gingko leaves, take on stunning burgundy and reds in cooler temps.
Trunk & Bark Trunk leans at base then is single and straight. Bark is grey - brown, smooth and peeling. Shedding bark can peel at the base.
Flower Small white flowers
Exposure Full sun
Soil Type Extremely adaptable from dry sandy soils to clay and even waterlogged soils.
Container Plant? Graceful nature makes it a great choice for a deck, porch, or patio.
What we learned in Southern Euc Trials In McDonough, GA (zone 8A), 3 year old Eucalyptus trees had minimal leaf damage and looked great following winters where temps twice reached 6°. In Suches, GA (zone 7A), 10 month old Eucalyptus trees - that froze to the ground at 0° and 29 mph winds - are growing vigorously from the base.
Nursery Quart Well-rooted, slightly branching, and 8" min. (from top of root ball). A great value for a fast growing Eucalyptus tree.
1 Gallon Pot A more established root system with lateral branching. 12" - 16" (from top of root ball). A convenient size for transplanting a Eucalyptus tree.
3 Gallon Pot A dense root system with multiple branching. 20" - 3.5' (from top of root ball). A well established and mature Eucalyptus tree.
