Moorei 'Skinny Minny' Eucalyptus *Exclusive 2020 Trials Introduction

About Moorei 'Skinny Minny' Eucalyptus *Exclusive 2020 Trials Introduction

Why ‘Skinny Minny?  Because it’s our smallest Southern Eucs at 12’ and has narrow leaves from juvenile stage to maturity.

Hardiness  In you landscape ‘Skinny Minny’ will thrive in zone 8a and above.  More trials are needed to possibly extend its hardiness zones.

Getting Started  This Southern Euc’s growth rate is much slower than others but definitely worth the wait.  It can be grown as a bushy willow-like shrub or an elegant single-stemmed specimen.

Size  Easy to control and responds well to pruning.  All grown up this Eucalyptus tree could reach 12’.

Leaf  Foliage is narrow with a fine point, blue-green-sage in color and fragrant.

Trunk & Bark  The stunning bark is smooth with silver to cream furrows, peeling off cinnamon to reveal a fresh white under-bark.

Flower  Massive golden star-shaped flower clusters attract pollinators and give the tree a stunning soft radiance.

Exposure  Full sun to part shade

Soil Type  All types, including wet and infertile soils.

Container Plant?  Extremely small size, slow growth rate, interesting bark, and seasonal hints of color make it a great choice for a deck, porch, or patio.

What we learned in Southern Euc Trials  In McDonough, GA (zone 8A) 10 month old Eucalyptus trees, in pots and in ground, had no stress signs after a winter where temps reached in the low 20’s.
